Monument Valley Regional Middle School
Week at a Glance and News and Notes
Note from the Principal:
This was a good week at Monument Valley.  As I visited classrooms this week I was struck by the differences and the connections.  In each class teachers were pushing students to think critically, in many different ways.  In a social studies class students were grappling with primary documents, looking at texts and illustrations from American History.  In two different math classes the groups were working through solving complex problems, one with ratios and another with area.  In English classes students were working on collaborative projects sharing their understanding of a book they chose—creative presentations based on their literature groups.  This is a small snapshot but shows the diversity of experiences that students have through their day, and the persistent focus on engaging activities that put the mind to work.  It is where we want to be in the middle of the school year.
Our next School Council meetings are this Monday, January 14 at 3 pm or on Tuesday, January 15 at 8:15 am.  We will review the School Improvement Plan, update you on the budget process for next school year, check in about Screens and Teens and share about how we are working to make the school a safe and equitable learning community.  Please join us!
Have a good weekend!
