Monument Valley Regional Middle School

Week at a Glance and News and Notes

Note from the Principal:

Winter is finally and officially upon us.  Please enjoy this break from school.  I hope you all get good time with family and friends this next week.  Also get your kids outside to enjoy the winter air and sun.  Encourage them to read, read, read—this is a great stretch of time to curl up with a book or read something together.  And try some games, as those are always a great opportunity to share some time and laughs together.

I also want to apologize for a scheduling error this week.  The band concert was scheduled for Tuesday, the last night of Hanukah.  We regret putting families in the uncomfortable situation of choosing between celebrating and having their child perform in the concert.  In the future we will be more careful about scheduling events that do not put families in that kind of a bind.

When we see you on the other side of break students and staff will be returning fresh for the new year.  A good activity to do with your children as we approach the new year is to look back on the start of this school year and reflect on growth—what has changed about me in the past four months?  What have I accomplished?  And to look ahead to the new year—what do I want to accomplish by the end of the school year? Where do I want to grow?  This kind of reflection really helps middle schoolers situate themselves in the day-to-day if they have an idea of the bigger picture and see where they are going.

 Have a great vacation!

Ben Doren

School Phone Calls

The phone system at Monument Valley and Muddy Brook was recently updated.  You may notice that calls from the school now show up on your caller ID.  All calls from MVRMS or MBRES will show up as being called from 413-644-2300.  If you call that # or use your “Call Back” feature you will get the middle school.  If a staff member calls regarding your student, they will leave a message so you’ll know who was trying to reach you.  Please check your voicemail before calling the school, as it is difficult for the secretaries to know who was trying to reach you.  Please remind your children to leave a voicemail if they call you from school, so you’ll know what they need and can leave a message to be passed along to your child.

Lost and Found

We have a lot of items in our lost & found.  Please check to see if your child has anything to claim.  We will be donating all remaining lost & found items over the Holiday Break.

Physical Education Reminder

For the safety of all students, sneakers are required for ALL Physical Education classes. Boot season is upon us, so please remind students to pack sneakers on PE days or leave a pair in their locker for the winter.
